Jose Mourinho and Chelsea had a bad week |
That is the withering assessment of Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.
The Blues crashed to their fourth Premier League defeat of the season against Southampton on Saturday and they are now 16th in the league after eight games.
And Carragher is certain the title race is beyond reach for Jose Mourinho's men.
"Without a doubt. They're now facing a battle to reach the top four," Carragher said as quoted by the Daily Mirror.
"Last season we were very critical of Man City and their lack of desire and appetitie. This is a lot worse.
"The way they are playing, for a champion, is shocking. I've never seen anything like this in the Premier League era.
"The biggest worry for Jose Mourinho is not the results. He has built his success on players running through a brick wall for him.
"Now they are slow and laboured, and look like they're running through quicksand. They're not playing for him."
