return to the Premier League is unlikely for Carlo Ancelotti (pictured) |
CARLO ANCELOTTI has ruled himself out of the running to be Brendan Rodgers’ successor at Liverpool.
The former Chelsea, Paris St Germain and Real Madrid manager, who has been recovering from back surgery, was immediately named as one of the main contenders to take over from Rodgers, who was sacked earlier today just hours after a 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby.
But Ancelotti told News News Blog Sport: “I have not had any offer from Liverpool.”
The 56 year old, who left Real last May, said at the time that he wanted to take a year out, and he has confirmed that he intends to stick to that decision and not return to management until next summer.
The Italian is in London this week and still has a house in the city, and frequently commutes between Europe and his home in Vancouver, Canada.
The three times Champions League winner as a manager has also been connected with AS Roma in his home country.
