Gordon Strachan should not be fired, says Kenny Dalglish |
KENNY DALGLISH has rubbished claims that Scotland boss Gordon Strachan should be sacked.
The Scots threw away a 2-1 lead in the dying moments against Poland after making a spirited comeback having gone 1-0 down after just four minutes to a Robert Lewandowski goal.
A stunning strike from Matt Ritchie on the spin and a smart finish from Steven Fletcher in the second half looked to be enough to keep their Euro 2016 hopes alive.
However, they were dealt a crushing blow when first Shane Long netted for Ireland against Germany and then Poland were to compound the misery in added time with Lewandowski again the culprit.
The resulting draw and Ireland's shock win over the world champions means their Euro 2016 campaign is over, which has lead to calls of 'Strachan out'.

However, fellow Scot Dalglish, who made over 100 appearances for his country, believes it would be a foolish decision to get rid of him.
"I think you're off your head if you think you're going to get anybody better," Dalglish told BBC Scotland.
"It's always the manager that gets it, but why change the manager if you can't get a better one? It was a difficult group to get out of, so the disappointment should be overruled by common sense."
Strachan has been in charge of Scotland since taking over from former Aberdeen and Celtic boss Billy Stark in 2013.
