DANIEL STURRIDGE has been ruled out of Liverpool’s Capital One Cup tie with Bournemouth tomorrow after failing to recover from a knee injury.
Sturridge missed training yesterday and was confined to gym work today to leave manager Jurgen Klopp still unable to call upon the injury-hit striker.
The forward hurt his knee following a training ground incident with Jordon Ibe 48-hours before Klopp’s first match in charge against Tottenham, and was sent for a scan last Friday after fluid gathered around the joint.
“There is nothing really new,” said Klopp. “Daniel is not available for tomorrow. It is getting better, but not quick enough to change this situation for us.
“He is not training. I saw him five minutes ago working with Chris Morgan the physio in the gym. But he cannot think about normal football training.”
Sturridge has not trained for 10 days with the team and that will cast doubt on his participation against Chelsea at the weekend as well.
Klopp is planning to make changes for the visit of Bournemouth in the Fourth Round of the competition as he looks for his first win as Liverpool manager.

James Milner is suspended, but Roberto Firmino is likely to make his first start under Klopp after two substitute appearances against Rubin Kazan and Southampton.
“We will play a mixture,” said Klopp. “We have to change the team a little bit. At this moment, I don’t know how many changes, but I make the changes not because the tie isn’t important.
“I want to win the game. If I make changes, it is always because we think we can win with this team. It’s the most important cup in the world because it’s the one we play tomorrow.”
