Ian Wright reveals why his former Arsenal team-mate Remi Garde will succeed at Aston Villa
Remi Garde is the favourite to succeed Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa
IAN WRIGHT has backed Remi Garde to succeed at Aston Villa if he is appointed as the Midlands club’s new boss.

Garde is the overwhelming favourite to succeed Tim Sherwood, who was sacked by Villa owner Randy Lerner after a difficult start to the season.
The Frenchman was Wright’s team-mate at Arsenal between 1996 and 1998 and although the former Lyon boss only chalked up 31 appearances in the Premier League, he made a big impression on Wright, who believes he would be a good appointment at Villa.

Tim Sherwood was sacked after just eight months in charge at Villa Park
Wright wrote in his column in The Sun: "I remember when Remi arrived at Arsenal - actually on the same day as Patrick Vieira - and he was the most well- mannered, softly-spoken, quiet Frenchman you could ever meet.
"We had a couple of years as team-mates, and he had the air of someone who would always go into the other side of football some day.
"I saw captain Micah Richards getting really angry in their game the other day, even when they went down the tunnel. That’s something Remi would sort out - because you need cool heads in Villa’s position if they hope to survive."
