Brendan Rodgers was sacked by Liverpool last Sunday |
HARRY REDKNAPP says he is "certain" Brendan Rodgers did not sign a number of the players who flopped at Liverpool.
Rodgers was sacked by Liverpool last Sunday after three years at the club and replaced by Jurgen Klopp. The Northern Irishman spent nearly £300m on players during his time with several of them failing to produce. The likes of Fabio Borini, Iago Aspas, Tiago Ilori, Mario Balotelli and Lazar Markovic have left Anfield either on loan or permanently since arriving under Rodgers.Redknapp believes Rodgers did not approve the signings of some of the players but feels there is enough quality for Klopp to work with.He told the Telegraph: I have criticised some of the players and I have had a go at the people who signed them, because I am certain it was not Brendan a lot of the time, but they still have some excellent ones there. "Management is not as complicated as some people think. You need good players, first and foremost and Liverpool have got players like Christian Benteke, Coutinho, the boy Clyne and Daniel Sturridge, who are excellent. "If the new signings settle, who knows how good they become."
