Dying Light: The Following will add Dirt Buddy carnage to the game on Xbox One, PC and PS4 |
DYING LIGHT was released in 2015 and in many ways was one of the first titles on Xbox One and PS4 that felt like a new-gen game.
There was no release for Xbox 360 and PS3 and it held its ground in a crowded, and often tired Zombie gaming marketplace.
Having fun in Harran after lights out was a tense business, especially near that start of the game but it lost some of its shine when the Volatile enemies became manageable foes.
I was pleased to see that the final areas of the game, like in Old Town, helped raise the challenges of the game by switching from open rooftops to tight enclosed alleys that could make climbing upward difficult.
Dying Light: The Following's release date will fall in early 2016 |
Dying Light: The Following has a release date pinned down in Q1 2016, meaning it could launch between January and March.
A short clip from developers Techland confirmed this, while earlier footage has also revealed that ideas for the new game look to be heading in an interesting new direction.
Techland producer Tymon Smektala commented: "So since Gamescom 2015, we revealed quite a bit about our upcoming expansion: the vast countryside map, the customizable dirt buggy, a new story and more.
Dying Light look to be doing DLC the right way |
"What we couldn’t say before though, was the release date. Today we finally know that Dying Light: The Following will launch within the first three months of 2016.
"This gives us enough time to put in all the content and surprises we have planned for you guys.
"So keep your eyes peeled for some sneak peeks into what we have in the works for you all. And we promise to share the exact day of release as soon as we get a final decision.”
DLC content is at its best when it adds meaningful new storylines but also introduces new ways to play the game.
Some add new huge new areas, like Fallout 3, or grant new abilities, such as Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone.
It appears Dying Light: The Following might do all of this, opening a new map area that uses dirty buggies, something new and hopefully fresh.
