Lionel Messi doesn't believe their is a competition between him and Cristiano Ronaldo |
BARCELONA star Lionel Messi has claimed he is not in competition with Real Madrid's record goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Argentine and Ronaldo are widely regarded as the the two best players in the world, having won the past seven Ballon d'Or awards between them.
Zinedine Zidane recently claimed Ronaldo's incredible goalscoring feats are down to the competition with Messi.
However, the 28-year-old insists he is focused on team success rather than personal glory.
He told Yahoo!: "These are things that people say. I don’t compete with Cristiano and I suppose he would not compete with me.

"What I want is the very best for my teams and that’s what I am working for."
The Barcelona forward is currently out with a knee injury and faces a race against time to be fit for El Clasico at the Bernabeu on November 22, but he is refusing to put a timescale on his return.
He added: "I am improving every day without setting myself any targets. I have always said that I don’t set myself any dates because it isn’t up to me.
"As much as I would like to play tomorrow, the doctors wouldn’t let me. When they tell me that I have recovered completely will be the time that I will make my return onto the pitch."
