Carl Jenkinson says West Ham deserved the win against Sunderland |
CARL JENKINSON believes West Ham deserved to take all three points from today's trip to Sunderland.
The Hammers were forced to fight back at the Stadium of Light after going 2-0 down in the opening 22 minutes.
Jeremain Lens chipped the goalkeeper from just outside the area to make it 2-0 after Steven Fletcher had opened in the scoring in the 10th.
Jenkinson, on loan from Arsenal, pulled one back in first-half injury time and Dimitri Payet levelled following Lens' dismissal for a second bookable offence.
But Jenkinson believes the Hammers should have made the most of the extra man, saying: “We have done well to get back in the game.
Carl Jenkinson scored West Ham's opener on the stroke of half-time |
"Of course the way game went when they had a man sent off we should have got the three points but it’s not easy against 10 men.
"Our first goal changed the game and there was only one team that was going to win it in the second half, but we knew it was going to be a tough game.”
