ARSENAL forward Theo Walcott says today's win over rivals Manchester United was for manager Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners scored twice in the opening seven minutes and ended the match as a contest with a third in the 19th to move above United into second place.
Wenger's men demolished United with some brilliant passing football, taking the lead when Alexis Sanchez scored with a clever near-post flick after six minutes.
They doubled their lead a minute later when Mesut Ozil rifled in from 13 yards and completed the rout when Sanchez blasted in an unstoppable shot after 19 minutes.
United, who were top of the table at the start of the weekend, rarely got going against the home side, who were always in control and never looked like slipping up with Petr Cech only seriously troubled once.
And Walcott, who provided two assists at the Emirates, says the Gunners committed themselves for Wenger, who has come under some criticism in recent weeks.
Walcott said: "There was a desire from kick-off, we looked very strong and were dominate at home against a big team and we should be playing like that every week.
"The players will be aching after that one, we worked so hard and rightly so. That was all for the manager.
"That first-half we were unbelievable, no-one could have dealt with us, it was the best football I have ever been involved in. It was the Arsenal of old."
