Zombi for Xbox One and PS4 review: Is the latest outbreak a deadly affair?
Zombi makes its way to the PS4, PC and Xbox One
ZOMBI has finally made the jump onto PS4, Xbox One and PC three years after making a splash on the Wii U.

It arrives shrouded in dread as you're thrust into a post-apocalyptic London which has been decimated by a - you guessed it - zombie invasion.
And it is your job to survive as long as possible in the face of wave after wave of the relentless living dead. And to save the world, of course.
From the get go you're running, jumping and swinging cricket bats for your life as you dive in to the Underground system after being cornered by those seeking your juicy brains out on the street.
Each and every turn is tense and frankly terrifying as you wonder if the next step will be your last.

In Zombi when you die, you die.
One of the nice features in this game is what happens when the infected finally get their teeth in to you. And believe me they will.
In most other games you simply regenerate with a penalty such as a loss of loot and you're back to the last checkpoint. But, in Zombi, you start again as a new survivor with an almost completely empty inventory. The old you is dead. And you will have to kill the old you once again.
As soon as you die the first thing on the agenda is to hunt down your former self and kill the zombie version to reclaim your BOB (Bug out bag) full of the goodies you've acquired along the way.

Starting again with basically nothing adds to the feel of utter desperation and fuels the need to survive at all costs.
It may seem like there is no hope at times but there is a faint light at the end of the tunnel, you are one of a small group of survivors striving to save what's left of the world from the zombie onslaught.
If you're to do it there's going to have to be a bloodbath.
Sure, you've got access to guns and ammo if the head-shot is your preferred killing method, but there's always the option to pick up a shovel or plank of wood with nails hammered through to bludgeon your way to freedom.

Tackling your former self is a big part of the game

Given the genre of the game there's a strong sense of fear and peril but the game lacks a huge amount of depth.
The plot is okay but there are a number of strange pitfalls in the game such as other characters making no reference to, nor recognising, that your physical appearance may have changed if you've died and regenerated as someone else in a mission.
But it is good fun and while Zombi is unlikely to keep you hooked for weeks on end, at £14.99 you can't really go wrong.
Get out there and save the world but just try not to die. Well, for as long as possible anyway.
