DOUGIE FREEDMAN believes Nottingham Forest are reaping the benefits after chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi ended the club’s hire-and-fire culture.

Dougie Freedman will celebrate a year in charge of Nottingham Forest on Tuesday

Al-Hasawi sacked five managers in his first two and a half years in charge before turning to Freedman.
But the Scot will celebrate a year in charge on Tuesday and his side are unbeaten in 13 games after he was backed by his chairman earlier this season.
Forest had won just once in 10 games before embarking on their current run but Al-Hasawi resisted called for Freedman’s head.

“There have been difficult moments and challenges at time but we have come through it and are looking forward now,” said Freedman.
“Even in the dark moments, our relationship has been quite strong.
“I think the chairman has learnt from the past.
“He is actually one of the few chairmen who has put his hands up and taken the blame.
“He has said ‘I have made mistakes’ and he doesn't want to make them again.
“Mine and the chairman's relationship has always been good, he is a football man and I like to discuss football with him.

“But it is even stronger now for having come through that.
“I have benefited from the previous managers’ misfortune. I think he sees where we are going.”
The twice FA Cup winners will aim for a last-16 place today at the expense of the Hornets.
And Freedman has revealed he replaced photographs of his current players at the training ground with images Brian Clough’s European Cup-winning legends.
He said: “You will not get a picture on the wall for scoring a goal, which is the way it seems to be with modern day clubs.

“I have taken every modern day picture down and put all the history up there so players can embrace it and learn from it.”
