Wayne Rooney breaks Sir Bobby Charlton's record with late penalty against Switzerland
Wayne Rooney scored his 50th goal at Wembley
WAYNE ROONEY became England's greatest-ever goalscorer at Wembley Stadium with a late penalty against Switzerland to bring up his 50.

The skipper beat Swiss keeper Yann Sommer after Raheem Sterling was tripped in the area.
Rooney's strike followed Harry Kane's opener, a low drive from Luke Shaw's cutback.
It was the Tottenham man's third goal in his fourth game.

But it was Rooney's night despite another sloppy performance.
The goal came after 84 minutes and Sir Bobby Charlton's record from 1970 fell.
Rooney had equalled it in San Marino - with another penalty - and was subbed so he could have his Wembley party.

And while the performance was nothing to dance about, the goal finally came.
At just 29 Rooney is likely to set an unassailable goal record for the Three Lions.
"It's a great feeling," Rooney said. "I've been close for the last few games and it's a dream come rue.
"I was bit emotional, it's a huge honour and one I am extremely proud of. I knew it was a big moment and just picked my corner and put my foot through it.
"To be the record scorer before the age of 30 is nothing I could have imagined."

Charlton released a statement shortly after the goal went in, it read: "I would like to congratulate Wayne on becoming England's leading goalscorer.
"I have always been very proud to hold this record. Playing for my country was always an honour and a privilege and something I did with great pride.
"I obviously cannot deny that I am disappointed that I now don't hold this record, however, I am absolutely delighted that it is Wayne, as captain of my beloved club and country, who now holds this record.

"On behalf of myself and everyone at Manchester United I would like to say congratulations Wayne, this is a very proud moment for you and your family.
"It is a record that I am sure you will hold for a long time, and it is clear to see that you will go on scoring for your club and country for a long time to come."
