Super Mario Maker: Nintendo icon celebrates 30 years but has plenty left in the tank
Super Mario Maker for Wii U shows the iconic Nintendo star still has plenty in the tank
NINTENDO'S Super Mario has featured in countless video games over the years and September 11 will see the launch of the next instalment in the series, Super Mario Maker.

Allowing players to create their own levels in the style of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World or Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo say this will create a limitless number of courses that can be played, shared and downloaded.

How Nintendo have managed to both experiment and manage to stay close to the elements of the original gameplay is impressive, especially with Mario becoming the star in the original Super Mario Bros. game in 1985.

Since then he has gone on to feature in countless video games over the years, picking up fans along the way on Nintendo's collection of home consoles and handheld systems.

And the stats speak for themselves, the Super Mario Bros. series of platform games alone has sold more than 310 million copies worldwide making Mario one of the most iconic entertainment characters in the world.

Fans will be pleased to see the reception the new title has been given and will be eager to try out their own building skills on the 2D stages.

It appears to be a natural evolution for the series, with technology now at a level where Nintendo can put together their own official stage editors for fan to use.

Gamers will be able to experiment with different costumes that weren't available in the original titles, opening the door to some pretty unique creations that can be shared.
