CHELSEA goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed he is making progress in his bid to recover from injury.
Courtois has undergone surgery on an injured knee and is expected to be out for a few more months.
However, in a post to his official Instagram account, the 23-year-old provided an update that shows him in an advanced stage of recovery.
"Starting a next step of rehabilitation in the swimming pool," he said.
Chelsea have struggled in his absence and are currently 15th in the Premier League table after Saturday's 2-2 draw at Newcastle.
Jose Mourinho's side are already eight points off leaders Manchester United, with a leaky defence seemingly a huge part of the problem.
The Blues have shipped 14 goals this term - the joint-second worst record in the league.
Their bid to retain their Premier League crown needs a shot in the arm and the Belgian could provide just that if he is to return earlier than expected.
Courtois played an integral part in their league-winning campaign last season, racking up a massive 12 clean sheets.
