Spain boss makes bizarre claim to boost Victor Valdes' morale at Manchester United
Victor Valdes has been left out of Spain's most recent squad
VICENTE DEL BOSQUE has revealed he thought about including Victor Valdes in the Spain squad to boost his morale.

The former Barcelona goalkeeper has seen his career go into free-fall since signing for Manchester United.
The twice Champions League winner has been frozen out by Louis van Gaal and failed to finalise a deal with Besiktas on deadline day.

However, Del Bosque has admitted he still considered giving the 33-year-old a place in the Spain squad to give him 'a lift'.
He told reporters: "We were very close to calling Víctor Valdés, he has always done well for the national team.

"I know that the national team is not a charity but maybe he needed a lift and in the end we didn't give it to him.
"Maybe we have even been cowards - I think we are all people and we have to have feelings."
