REAL MADRID initially offered just £11.4million to sign David De Gea from Manchester United, according to reports.
After Real and United finally agreed a £29million deal on Monday that would see the shot-stopper achieve his dream move to the Bernabeu and Keylor Navas head to Old Trafford in return, De Gea was all set to return to Spain.
However, a paperwork error at the the last minute saw the deal sensationally collapse.
And as Manchester United and Real Madrid start playing the name game as to who is responsible for the move to fail, it has emerged the La Liga giants offered just £11.4m for De Gea's signature.
A Manchester United senior club insider told the Daily Star: "The opening bid was £11.4m before negotiations eventually saw the two clubs agree on a fee of £29m, including Real goalkeeper Keylor Navas."
