Liverpool legend revealed he rejected an offer from Tottenham to join LA Galaxy |
STEVEN GERRARD revealed he rejected offers from several clubs including Tottenham to join LA Galaxy from Liverpool.
The Anfield legend also confirmed he had offers from Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, Besiktas and David Moyes' Real Sociedad - according to the Daily Mail.
Gerrard, who spent 18 years at his boyhood club, chose the MLS side over Tottenham to avoid facing Liverpool.
“A few English clubs called but I wouldn’t play against Liverpool,” Gerrard said.
“There was interest from Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.
“It was good to know he still rated me. I was sure I could play in the Premier League for another year but there would not have been much of a buzz doing the same thing all over again with Tottenham.
“The first offer came from Besiktas, then managed by Slaven Bilic. Monaco were next. They came in strong. Paris Saint-Germain were also very keen.
“David Moyes called my agent a couple of times, to see whether I would be interested in playing for him at Real Sociedad.”
The 35-year-old admitted he would've stayed at Liverpool rather than making the move Stateside if he was offered a coaching role by Brendan Rodgers, but chose to sign for Galaxy on an 18-month deal.
