Suffragette follows the brutal and violent but desperately important story of the women who fought for the right to vote in Britain at the turn of the 20th Century.
Carey Mulligan’s striking performance anchors the film, and looks set to bring her a gong or two during next year’s awards season.
The film also highlights the shockingly poverty and oppression women of her class faced in those times. Her character reveals that she started working part time aged just seven and was working full time by the time she was 12.
"All my life I've been respectful, done what men told me," she says. "Well I can't have that any more."

"The law means nothing to me. I've had no say in the making of the law," Mulligan defiantly declares.
"We're in every home, we're half the human race. You can't stop us all."
The film also stars Helena Bonham Carter, Brendan Gleeson, Ben Whishaw and Anne-Marie Duff.

Bonham Carter has certainly been spotted having a far happier time elsewhere this week, kissing a MUCH younger man in the sexy new Bryan Adams video.
Suffragette is out in UK cinemas on October 12.
