Are Rockstar reviving Agent or making new plans for GTA 5? |
The long-forgotten project from Rockstar North, Agent, was first announced in 2009 but has since laid dormant for all intents and purposes.
News in July 2013 that Take-Two Interactive had renewed its trademarks of the Agent brand was the only flickering hope that the title hadn't been completely abandoned.
Why the sudden interest in Agent? Rockstar are on the lookout for staff with specialities in stealth gameplay.
A job being advertised by the company states: "The ideal candidate will have deep experience working with physics-based, procedural animation technology in video games.
"A background working with weapon design and destructible environments is highly desired.
"Advanced physical and digital prototyping skills to establish the pillars of the asymmetrical cooperative stealth experience required."
The game was supposed to be an exclusive for the PlayStation 3 but since the long quiet surrounding it, a resurgent title could possibly appear on any platform.
Agent sounded like an exciting project from the makers of the GTA series |
The co-op stealth gameplay reference drops a tantalising hint that Rockstar could be ready to reboot the Agent project, although the vague description could also fit into a hundred other projects.
Another posting reads for an animation systems R&D programmer at Rockstar NYC, who can "help us in developing advanced animation systems for large open world character based games."
GTA 5 has proved a huge hit for Rockstar |
Rockstar are known for taking their time with the development of games and have used studio's such as Toronto, where the gameplay designer post is being advertised, to help complete earlier projects such as GTA 5.
The company recently committed themselves to creating further content for GTA Online, with the multiplayer modes popularity helping to change Rockstar's overall strategy.
