Manchester United and Real Madrid are at war after David De Gea's move to the Bernabeu collapsed at the last minute on Monday night.
The two sides are playing the blame game after relevant paperwork failed to get to La Liga before the Spanish window shut.
De Gea is now in limbo over his future at the club and while the shot-stopper is said to be devastated his dream move to Real failed at the final moment, United are confident manager Louis van Gaal can re-ignite his Old Trafford career.
United were forced to pay over the odds for French starlet Anthony Martial in a bid to prevent their European rivals to his signature.
The Red Devils have paid an initial £36million fee, however that is expected to rise to £58m with add-ons.
Senior sources at Old Trafford felt the need to act now to ensure they landed Martial ahead of Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, all of whom were said to be tracking him.
While Martial has vowed to live up to his whopping price-tag as he starts life in the Premier League.
"I don't feel the pressure," he said. "I know there is pressure but I'm ready for it. I'm very happy because it's a big club in England and I have worked hard for this. I'm very proud.
"It's not easy to speak about myself but I am a very fast player. I spoke with the coach and I know that I need to work very hard.
"I hope that everything will go well for me at this club. I'm very happy because the supporters are great here. I will be ready [for his debut] when the time comes."
