David de Gea made his Manchester United comeback against Liverpool on Saturday |
DAVID DE GEA has a £30million release clause in his new Manchester United contract, according to reports.
The Sun have revealed the news just days after the Spaniard penned a new deal at Old Trafford.
De Gea came close to moving to Real Madrid before one of the most drawn-out transfer sagas of the summer collapsed in spectacular fashion
The fall-out prompted a war of words, with both clubs blaming the other for failing to file the required documentation on time.
The 24-year-old then had a sudden change of heart and appeared to commit his long-term future to United by signing a new four-year deal.
It is believed the Spain international is now the Premier League's highest paid goalkeeper.
He was said to have instructed agent Jorge Mendes to demand as such, and new reports reveal he also demanded that the new clause be inserted.
And Real might yet be able to sign him if they are willing to stump up the money.
The previous fee was reported to be £29m, while Real stopper Keylor Navas was also mentioned in a potential swap deal.
