Manchester United and Real Madrid are still at war over failed David |
MANCHESTER UNITED and Real Madrid are determined to repair the damage of the hostile summer transfer window which left both clubs on a war footing.
Within the Old Trafford corridors of power there is the realisation that although the airwaves have been full of anger and vitriol over David de Gea’s failed move to The Bernabeu, time is a great healer and deals between the two famous footballing institutions will happen again in the future.
They recall former boss Sir Alex Ferguson insisting after another spat that he wouldn’t sell Real Madrid a virus. Twelve months later Cristiano Ronaldo was on his way to Spain.
But Real Madrid will have to wait until the summer to finally capture De Gea who will then become a free agent and able to sign a pre-contract with a foreign side in January.
United won’t entertain the Spanish international keeper leaving in the next window even if as expected they lose him on a Bosman free a few months later.
Manager Louis van Gaal expects De Gea to play a major part in United’s season after being welcomed back into the squad following the international break with the expectation that he will play against Liverpool on Saturday.
The club have been impressed with his attitude since being left out of the side, watching games at Old Trafford smartly dressed and happily signing autographs and posing for photos without any words of criticism for his treatment.

Major figures at Old Trafford insist they are delighted with the summer business of bringing in six internationals even if they missed out on the two biggest targets, Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller.
It can also be revealed that the surprise loan departure of Adnan Januzaj to Borussia Dortmund has assisted United’s ambitions of landing the German club’s outstanding midfielder Marco Reus.
Dortmund weren’t interested in doing any business for their prized asset this time around but could part with the £60 million rated player next summer with Januzaj a possible deal clincher if he does well in the Bundesliga.
United insiders are also delighted with the capture of Anthony Martial even if the deal could mushroom to an incredible £60 million for the 19-year-old. They say to pay the full add ons will mean the French teenager hitting the heights.
