Ryan Giggs played a huge role in the signing of Anthony Martial, according to Manchester Evening News.

The United legend scouted the teenager for over a year and prompted the Red Devils to sign him on deadline day.

It's understood Manchester United acted swiftly to avoid a transfer battle with Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea for the 19-year-old.

 

David De Gea could make a u-turn and sign a new contract with Manchester United, according to reports.

Spanish newspaper AS Diario report that De Gea's representatives have held talks with officials from United to discuss a new deal.

The former Atletico Madrid man has just 12 months to run on his contract and could leave Old Trafford for free next summer unless a new deal is agreed.

 

Matteo Darmian has revealed he does not expect to stay at Manchester United long-term, despite just signing for the club.

He told Italian publication Corriere della Sera: "I want to stay true to myself. I am someone who worked hard to get where I am today and I intend to continue doing that. 

"Manchester United is a beginning and not the apex of my career."
