Lucas Leiva set for a move to AC Milan as part of a swap deal with Jeremy Menez |
LIVERPOOL are close to agreeing a swap deal with AC Milan for Jeremy Menez, according to reports in Spain.
Milan are keen on signing Lucas Leiva and will offer Menez in return, according to Fichajes.
Both sides are thought to be close to agreeing terms which will see the former Paris Saint-Germain star head to Anfield in the January transfer window.
This comes in the wake of Leiva admitting he wanted to leave Liverpool to join Turkish outfit Besiktas in the summer, but an injury to captain Jordan Henderson gave the 28-year-old a chance to start in midfield.
Brendan Rodgers has started Leiva in the last two matches against Arsenal and West Ham, and with doubts over Henderson's fitness, he has every chance of starting against Manchester United.
Jeremy Menez could be set for a move to Liverpool in January |
Meanwhile, Menez, who has been linked with a move to Anfield throughout the summer, would be a welcome addition for Rodgers who has been without Daniel Sturridge for the last four months due to a hip injury.
The French international scored 16 goals in 33 games in the Serie A last term, but is yet to make an appearance this season for Milan.
