Lucas waves goodbye to Liverpool fans as Besiktas loan deal edges closer
Lucas could be on his way to Besiktas on loan
BRENDAN RODGERS has called Lucas Leiva Liverpool's best defensive midfield player despite the Brazilian seemingly making his final appearance for the club last night.

After being left out of Liverpool's team for their first three games of the season, the 28-year-old returned to the side in the 0-0 draw against Arsenal and impressed.
But after being substituted in the 75th minute, he appeared to wave goodbye to the Liverpool fans in the stands.

And reports in the Daily Mail suggest Lucas has agreed to join Besiktas on a loan deal.
Rodgers admitted Lucas' importance to the team but could not guarantee regular minutes.

"Lucas is our best defensive midfield player," he said.
"There are games where I play three midfielders, but not always one specifically defensive. When we need that, he's the best we have.
"He came in tonight and did a great job. He's very much part of what we're trying to do, but every player wants to play every minute of every game. You can't guarantee that."
