Steven Gerrard lavished Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho with praise
LIVERPOOL legend Steven Gerrard admits he is a big fan of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and claims he is one of the best managers in world football.

Mourinho tried to sign Gerrard during his first spell at Stamford Bridge and even tried to tempt him away after his exit from west London.
While the former Reds skipper had a healthy rivalry with the Blues throughout his career, he reserved special praise for the boss.

Now at LA Galaxy, Gerrard has been outspoken since leaving the Premier League and his latest revelation could be seen as a swipe at Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers is under pressure at Anfield and the former Kop hero has so far refused to lavish such praise on their current chief, instead claiming  during his final year on Merseyside.

However, he had nothing but good things to say about Mourinho. “We’re two football people,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“I think if you park that rivalry aside, the rivalry’s done for the time being.
"I’ve got nothing but admiration for what he’s achieved. Not just at Chelsea when he’s been a rival but at Porto when he went to Inter Milan.

Mourinho tried to sign Gerrard from Liverpool and the pair have always maintained a healthy rivalry
“He’s had an incredible career. And even during the rivalry when you set-up against his teams, they’re very difficult to play against.  I think he always signs top players.
“He is one of the best out there and he’s tried to sign me on three occasions, three different teams.
"Even though I haven’t played for him, I’ve had that close relationship with him and I’ve still felt he rates me as a player and even bumping into him when the rivalry’s been going on, he’s given me some good bits of advice and yeah I’m a big fan.”
