Daniel Sturridge scored twice in Liverpool's 3-2 victory over Aston Villa |
The England international returned to action this month following a lengthy time out and scored two goals in their 3-2 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.
The striker, who made just 18 appearances last season, will be hoping to turn Liverpool's season around and relieve some of the pressure on Brendan Rodgers' shoulders.
And defender Gomez knows the importance of having the 26-year-old back among the Liverpool fold.
Daniel's a massive component in the team," he told Sky Sports. "You can see how sharp he is, I noticed it straight away. He's a massive asset and [it's] a positive to have him back scoring."
The 18-year-old right-back made the move from Charlton this summer and admits he is shocked at the amount of game time he has managed - six of the Reds' nine fixtures so far
"It's been a great experience for me getting the game time," he added. "I've learned a lot already and I'm looking to keep on working.
"I had aspirations to come in and be involved, and try and have an impact, but I knew with me being young that I might get the chances straight away and might have to bide my time.
"I'm enjoying it. It was a bonus to start the first few games of the season. It's just good to be in an environment like this, learning from top quality players every day.
"The Europa League is a massive competition and we want to do as well as we can in it. It's a massive game and another chance for a win."
