Jose Mourinho's Chelsea beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-0 last night |
JOSE MOURINHO insists he isn't interested in fans cheering his name - although he prefers it to boos.
The Chelsea manager has endured a rough few weeks after seeing his team slide down the Premier League table.
Three defeats in five games leaves the defending champions just two points ahead of the bottom three and 11 points off leaders Manchester City.
But Mourinho assured supporters the team was in fine spirit after their 4-0 victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League last night.
"First of all it’s more important they support the players like they did," Mourinho said.
"I’m happy when they sing ‘Chelsea’, ‘we know what we are, champions of England’ and I prefer when they sing the players’ names.
"I am not waiting for that kind of support [towards me] but obviously it’s welcome.
"I prefer that to them booing me. It shows me they don’t read papers or they don’t have short memories."
Chelsea host Arsenal on Saturday (12.45), having lost to Arsene Wenger's men in the Community Shield last month.
The Gunners lost 2-1 to Dinamo Zagreb last night and Mourinho said of the game: ‘I will start thinking about it tomorrow. Everything was on Maccabi.
"Tomorrow I will watch Arsenal, and I will try to understand how my players are – how Oscar is, Willian is out for sure, I think Pedro is out for sure - so let’s see."
