Jose Mourinho reportedly called Paul Pogba to help finalise a deal |
JOSE MOURINHO personally called Paul Pogba in an attempt to force through a deal, according to reports.
Chelsea were reportedly chasing the midfielder all summer and had tabled an offer of £62million plus an additional player.
Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Pogba had already ironed out an £8.7m-a-year contract with the club courtesy of super agent Mino Raiola.
And now new claims by French newspaper L'Equipe suggest Mourinho personally called the Frenchman last month to help pave the way for a deal.
The report adds the Premier League giants were fearful of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain jeopardising their deal for the 22-year-old.
However, Juventus were resolute in preliminary talks with the Blues, telling them the midfielder was not for sale as he was 'priceless'.
Pogba is also believed to have been hesitant about making the switch to south-west London so close to Euro 2016.
