Harry Redknapp is backing his former club to beat Manchester United |
HARRY REDKNAPP has backed Southampton to spring a surprise by beating Manchester United at St Mary's on Sunday.
The former Tottenham manager is also backing Watford to heap more misery on Steve McClaren by beating Newcastle.
United travel to St Mary's on Sunday (4pm kick-off), while the Magpies host Watford at St James' Park on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
"Newcastle are low on confidence and I can see Watford getting something out of this, not sure it will be much of a shock if they win," Redknapp said.
Redknapp is backing former club Saints to cause an upset after witnessing United's 2-1 loss to PSV in the Champions League on Tuesday.
"I was very surprised about United’s defeat to what is a very ordinary PSV side and I wouldn’t be shocked if they suffered another defeat," he added.
The game at St Mary's sees old enemies Louis van Gaal and Ronald Koeman go head-to-head.
The pair publicly fell out after working together at Ajax.
Van Gaal also refused a glass of wine with Koeman at St Mary's last season, but the Saints bosss insists the offer is still open.

While much has been made of their relationship, Koeman insists he is keen for his players to concentrate on the game itself.
"If we beat them I will be happy for the fans and the players, not especially because I beat the manager," he said.
Meanwhile, Van Gaal echoed his Dutch counterpart's words.
“I approach all matches in the same way, in the same procedure and with the same amount of meetings," he added.
