Paris Saint-Germain are set to renew their efforts to sign Everton's Seamus Coleman in January |
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN will renew their efforts to sign Everton full back Seamus Coleman in the January transfer window.
It can be revealed that the French champions made a desperate attempt to snap up the Republic of Ireland star during the last few days of the summer window.
They made an offer of around £20 million and were prepared to allow Dutch international right-back Gregory van der Wiel to move in the opposite direction.
Van der Wiel was ready to join Everton, having fallen out with PSG boss Laurent Blanc and having slipped down the defensive pecking order.
But Everton as they did with England star John Stones, the subject of bids from Chelsea, stood firm.
Coleman, a bargain £60,000 buy from Irish club Sligo Rovers in January 2009, has developed into one of the best attacking right-backs in the Premier League.
He has attracted interest from Chelsea and Manchester United and now has PSG on his trail – a club that can offer big money and the Champions League.
