Chelsea have given up in their pursuit of Paul Pogba |
The Blues have tied up a late deal for Senegal defender Papy Djilobodji.
The 27-year-old signed a four-year deal at Stamford Bridge today.
They have also signed Michael Hector from Reading on a five-year-deal.
The 23-year-old returns to Reading on loan until the end of this season.
Chelsea had attempted to sign John Stones from Everton, but were rebuffed despite offering £38million.
The Blues have also had to concede defeat in their pursuit of Paul Pogba.
The Juventus midfielder is set to stay in Italy after demanding a staggering £318,000-a-week.
Chelsea will however go back in for Pogba next summer - but will come up against Barcelona with the transfer ban to be lifted in January.
And finally the Blues have been infuriated by Manchester United's signing of Anthony Martial from Monaco.
Chelsea understood a move for the striker would not happen until at least next season.
Tottenham had had a £20million for the 19-year-old knocked back earlier in the summer.
And the Blues believed they were in the running could a transfer be agreed, however Manchester United made Monaco an offer they couldn't refuse.
