Chelsea reportedly equalled Manchester United's bid for Anthony Martial |
CHELSEA made a move for Manchester United's big-money signings Anthony Martial, according to reports.
The 19-year-old was snapped up by the Red Devils on deadline day for £36million, making him the most expensive teenager in history.
However, according to reports in the Sunday Times, Jose Mourinho also had his eye on the young Frenchman.
And it's believed the Blues made a rival offer to lure the striker to Stamford Bridge - equalling United's mega bid.
It's understood Monaco knocked the Premier League champions back as they had already agreed terms with Louis van Gaal's side.
Martial's move to the Red Devils could prove very lucrative for the Ligue 1 side, who are known to be suffering from financial difficulties.
The initial fee of £36m could rise to as much as £58m due to add-ons and bonuses such as goals scored in his first season.
