Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer takes swipe at Man Utd over Thomas Muller pursuit
Thomas Muller was linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer
PREMIER LEAGUE riches cannot buy the best players in the world, according to Bayern Munich's honorary president Franz Beckenbauer.

The German football great was commenting after several attempts by Premier League clubs to sign Europe's biggest names during the summer transfer window.
Earlier in the year, the television rights to show Premier League matches were bought for over £5billion by Sky and BT Sport.

Bayern star Thomas Muller was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United but a deal failed to materialise, as the Bundesliga giants stayed firm.
And Beckenbauer has mocked the Premier League's inability to acquire big names despite the vast amount of money.

He said: "No, they can't buy everything.
"Most importantly, they have been unable to sign Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Thomas Muller from us.
"They haven't captured any of the best players in the world."
