ARSENE WENGER has described Anthony Martial as an "exceptional talent" but insisted he was not a transfer option.
Martial joined Manchester United on deadline day from Monaco in a £36million deal, which could increase to around £58m.
The 19-year-old has played just 52 club matches but made his international debut for France over the weekend.
Wenger said there is a shortage of top class strikers in the modern game but suggested Martial was not a transfer option due to the attacking options already in his position.
"We have known about him since he was a kid," Wenger said.
"He is more a winger-type but is an exceptional talent.
"I believe he plays in positions where we have Chamberlain, Sanchez, Campbell. We have plenty of players in his positions."
