Arsene Wenger does not think Premier League big boys are at the same level as Spanish counterparts |
ARSENE WENGER says Premier League giants are not currently at the same level as their counterparts in La Liga.
The Frenchman insists you only have to look at the winners of the Champions League over the past two seasons.
Real Madrid beat local rivals Atletico Madrid in the final two years ago, with Barcelona overcoming Juventus at the end of last season.
Meanwhile Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have all struggled in Europe's elite competition in recent years.
The Gunners boss said: "We can not say we are at that level now because in the last two years Barcelona won the Champions League and the year before it was Real Madrid.
"So, you have to say they were the better teams. Are we far? I don't think so. But we have to show that with out results."
The Gunners face Olympiakos tonight in need of a win after losing their opening Group F fixture to Dinamo Zagreb.

Real Madrid claimed European glory two seasons ago |
The the game, Wenger added: "Olympiakos won comfortably on Saturday, they were safe after 20 minutes, when we were in a high-intensity game at Leicester.
"Mentally you cannot ease off before a Champions League game, as some others can.
"For example Dinamo Zagreb played on Saturday and they took three players off at half-time. I cannot do that at Leicester."
