Santi Cazorla says he never wanted to leave Arsenal in the summer |
ARSENAL midfielder Santi Cazorla says he never considered leaving the club in the summer.
Cazorla was linked with a move back to Spain in the transfer window, with Atletico Madrid touted as a possible destination.
However, the 30-year-old has refuted those claims, insisting he never wanted to leave and is happy in north London.
The Spaniard has outlined his commitment by penning a new deal at the Emirates.
“I never said I wanted to return to Spain," Cazorla said.
"Those things just came from the press. I don’t understand why they publish that story because I have always been happy at the club.
“I feel very valued here and the club value me even more with a new contract. I never considered leaving Arsenal.”
Cazorla is set for a pivotal role for the Gunners after Jack Wilshere was ruled out until Christmas.
Wilshere was expected to return after the international break but now requires surgery on a broken leg.
