David Seaman admits he came very close to joining Manchester United before Arsenal |
DAVID SEAMAN has revealed he came 'very close' to joining Manchester United before signing for Arsenal.
The former England goalkeeper left QPR in 1990 and had offers from United before opting to make the move to north London.
When asked how close he came to signing on the dotted line with the Red Devils, he told the Daily Star: "Yes, very close.
"Before I went to Arsenal, I had the choice of Man United or Arsenal. A little choice it was and I was living in London with my family and everything so that's why I chose Arsenal."
However, the Yorkshireman admits once he made the move to the Gunners there was never any doubt in his mind that he'd made the right decision.
When asked if any teams were interested in him while he was playing at Highbury, he replied: "No, they were just rumours. But I was happy at Arsenal, I was always happy at Arsenal.
"I loved my time at Arsenal, there was never any question of me leaving. Plus we were winning things so it does help."
