Thierry Henry has been backed to become the new Motherwell boss
FRANCE legend Thierry Henry has been bizarrely backed to become the new Motherwell manager.

The former Barcelona and Arsenal striker  has emerged as one of the leading contenders with some bookmakers, at 8-1, to replace the sacked Ian Baraclough.
The bet looks a bit of a long shot as Henry has a multi-million pound contract with Sky Sports as an analyst and is also coaching the Under-21s at former club Arsenal.
Fellow Sky Sports pundit and Express Sport columnist Charlie Nicholas said: “It’s an interesting one but I’m not sure I can really see Thierry leaving Sky for the Motherwell job.”

The Fir Park club have already received about 40 applications from all over the globe in the 24 hours since Baraclough was sacked following the club’s humiliating League Cup exit to Championship side Morton.
Under-20 coach and former Well defender Stephen Craigan and assistant boss Stephen Robinson have been put in charge for tomorrow’s league clash with Partick Thistle and are among the early favourites to land the job.
Malky Mackay – who has taken charge of Norwich, Wigan and Cardiff previously – has ruled himself out of the running.

But previous Fir Park managers Stuart McCall, Billy Davies and Terry Butcher are in the betting, as well as former Steelmen Mitchell van der Gaag and Simo Valakari, along with former Coventry boss Steven Pressley and ex-Hibs and Finland boss Mixu Paatelainen.
