Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger left shocked by Manchester United's £36m signing of Martial
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger shocked at Manchester United's deadline day purchase of Anthony Martial
ARSENE WENGER says he has been left shocked by Manchester United's astonishing £58million outlay on French youngster Anthony Martial.

United paid an initial £36m for the Monaco striker on deadline day, a price which could eventually rise by another £22m with add-ons.
The move has made Martial, 19, the most expensive teenager in football history, but Wenger, who was interested in the Monaco starlet, believes it shows how little real talent is available.

The Arsenal manager said: "Martial scored 11 goals in the French championship - that sums it up.
"That means it's not the money that's missing at the moment, it's not the desire of investment that is missing, it's the number of players available who can strengthen the big clubs.

"The problem is finding the players that guarantee you are a better team, and that example shows you very well.
"Martial is a huge talent - he's 19 years old. The investment is absolutely huge. It shows there's not many players in the world who can strengthen these teams."
Wenger has come under fire for spending only £10m this summer, on Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Cech, though moves to strengthen his strikeforce with offers for Real Madrid's Karim Benzema and Paris St Germain's Edinson Cavani failed to come off.
Wenger said: "So am I happy with the investment I make? Yes, every time. I bought Alexis Sanchez, I bought Mesut Ozil, I bought Cech, and I bought Gabriel."
