Victor Wanyama is fully focussed on his job at Southampton |
Wanyama was left out of Sunday's 3-0 home win over Norwich for not being "mentally and physically good enough to play", according to Saints manager Ronald Koeman.
The combative midfielder asked to leave the club close to transfer deadline day, with both Arsenal and Tottenham interested in his services.
But after blocking his departure, Southampton are now keen to tie Wanyama down to a new and improved five-year contract.
The Kenya international said on the saga: “I will fully concentrate on Southampton since I have a contract with them running.
“It didn’t affect me in any way. I’m still a Southampton player and I will give my best when I go back and hopefully, we will win more games.”
The former Celtic man added: “It has been difficult for the team when I was away but things will be alright. These things happen but I’m good to go.”
