Andre Villas-Boas has been handed a six-game ban
ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS has been handed a six-game for a touchline altercation with a match official in Russia.
 
The Zenit St Petersburg coach argued with the fourth official during Zenit's Russian Premier League defeat to Krylya Sovietov at the Petrovsky Stadium last Saturday.
Villas-Boas became embroiled in a heated debate with his side trailing 1-0 in a match they eventually lost 3-1.
 
And the club have confirmed he will be banned from the sidelines for six games after the Russian Football Union decided the punish him for the incident.
The Portuguese had two unsuccessful spells in the Premier League with both Chelsea and Tottenham.
He lasted less than a year at Stamford Bridge after replacing Carlo Ancelotti in 2011, with the worst win percentage (48%) of any Blues boss since Glenn Hoddle, who managed the club between 1993 and 1996.
 
He was given another chance by Spurs after his sacking in 2012 but lasted less than six months before being shown the door at White Hart Lane.
Since moving to Russia, Zenit missed out on the league tittle on the final day of the 2013-14 season under his stewardship.
However, he went one better as they clinched their first Russian title since 2012 last season.
