AMAZON is rumoured to be working on a new tablet, which is expected to cost just $50 – some £32.50.
Amazon is reportedly hard at work on a new tablet expected to launch ready for the Christmas shopping rush this year.
According to a source for the Wall Street Journal, the tablet will sport a six-inch display and run on Amazon's Fire OS.
Unbelievably – the report suggests the device will be sold on Amazon's website for a staggeringly low $50, around £32.
The budget price will reportedly allow more people to buy products, apps, ebooks, music and video from Amazon's digital stores.
The US firm has reportedly always sold its hardware for (almost) no profit, instead making up the cost with sales of its' electronic goods.
Amazon has yet to announce the device, but for a starting price of just £32.50 – some £2.50 less than its Fire TV Stick – its difficult to imagine it will come with the same premium build as Amazon's other Fire tablets.
Retail giant Amazon recently released a Fire tablet aimed at children, which is will replace an unlimited number of times.
The Amazon Fire HD Kids Edition could signal the end of cracked screens – at least for the two years that the included "worry-free guarantee" lasts.
