Derek McInnes saw Aberdeen lose all four league matches against Celtic last season |
DEREK MCINNES has challenged his Aberdeen squad to show they are as good as champions Celtic.
The Dons boss, whose team have won their opening five Premiership games, is desperate for a positive result when the Dons take on Ronny Deila’s men at Pittodrie on Saturday.
Aberdeen lost all four league matches against Celtic last season, and McInnes admitted those results were hard to stomach as the Hoops took full advantage to romp to the title.
McInnes said: “We have made a good start but we feel there is still more to come.
“We managed to beat Celtic a couple of times two seasons ago, but last season we didn’t and that doesn’t sit well with me.
“We had decent records against everyone else in the league, but Celtic were the team we had problems against.
“Our performances weren’t too bad but we still didn’t put in winning displays.
“Saturday is all about the result more than the performance.
“It’s important for us to meet the challenge. Last season we were disappointed with our results against them and we are looking for improvement.”
