Xbox at Gamescom live: Microsoft update on Quantum Break, Halo Wars 2 and Halo 5

MICROSOFT are kicking Gamecom off with their own briefing covering the likes of Dark Souls 3, Halo 5: Guardians, Quantum Break, Scalebound and Crackdown, as well as the new titles they plan to announce.

UPDATE SEVEN:  More on Quantum Break and its tie-in TV show from Microsoft, including the the April 5, 2016 release date.

UPDATE SIX: Microsoft ended their Gamescom briefing with the announcement on what they have planned for the Halo series
Fall 2016, will see the return of Halo Wars, which will be released on Xbox One and windows 10.
Halo Wars 2's announcement trailer didn't feature any in-game action, so will have to wait to learn more on what new feature will come with it.
Creative Assembly, the studio behind the successful Total War series, are heading up development of the follow up to the 2009 real-time strategy game.
"Halo Wars 2 is an exciting new strategy game packed with fast-paced action, massive battles, and an all-new Halo story, coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 in fall of 2016."
Microsoft also revealed that they will celebrate the launch of Halo 5: guardians with the release of new Halo-inspired premium hardware options which will be available in the weeks leading up to release.
"We’ve got the Xbox One Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition bundle, a pair of limited edition Halo 5: Guardians wireless controllers, and a killer new gaming headset from our friends at ASTRO Gaming – available for pre-order today."

UPDATE FIVE: The Halo World Championship has been announced by 343 Industries executive producer, Josh Holmes.
"The Halo series has always been synonymous with console eSports and online competition.
"With Halo 5: Guardians we are fully embracing that legacy with the announcement of the inaugural Halo World Championship, which launches later this year, featuring over $1 million dollars in prizing.
"The Halo World Championship will focus on Halo 5: Guardians’ hyper-competitive Arena multiplayer experience."
 

UPDATE FOUR: Dark Souls 3 was also given more details with a world Premiere gameplay trailer.
It showed the quicker combat system and some of the disgusting new monsters you will have to fight, including a massive dragon.
The trailer also included some of the new locations that will be in the game and fans can look forward to more dark, foreboding dungeons and creepy caves.
Microsoft also announced that Xbox One owners will get early access to the Homefront multiplayer beta which is set to kick off Winter, 2015.
Homefront: The Revolution is an open-world FPS where you must lead the Resistance and wage guerrilla warfare against a superior military force.

In other news, Jens Bergensten, Daniel Brynolf and Pontus Hammarberg of Oxeye Game Studio, are working on new title, Cobalt, which is being published by Mojang and Microsoft Studios, and developed for Xbox One and Xbox 360 by FatShark.
Cobalt is described as a couch multiplayer and action platformer, featuring  six different multiplayer modes, including deathmatch, capture the flag, and team strike, for up to eight local or online players.
You can also co-op your way through Cobalt’s adventure mode as a cyborg who is sent to uncover the mysterious disappearance of a human colony on an alien planet.
 

UPDATE THREE: Microsoft have announced that all future Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles will feature backward compatibility with Xbox One at launch, meaning lots of free games for those with the new-gen console.
There was also an update on some of the new features coming to Xbox One, including full DVR functionality.
Recording Television shows will be possible in the background while users will be able to carry on playing games, or just leave it to run when you're not home.
"Ever since we introduced the Hauppauge Digital TV Tuner for Xbox One in the U.S. and Canada and the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner in 16 European countries and Australia, you’ve been enjoying free over-the-air TV channels.
"Many of you have also streamed over-the-air TV to other devices within your home using the Xbox app on Windows 10 devices or the Xbox One SmartGlass app on Windows, Windows Phone, iOS and Android, even while someone else is using Xbox One.
"With DVR for Over-the-Air TV, you’ll never miss a minute of your favorite TV shows, movies or sporting events when you want to play a game or need to step out. Once your Xbox One is set up for over-the-air TV*, it’s as easy as plugging a USB hard drive into your Xbox One console and recording your content.
"And by recording content to an external drive, there’s no impact on your gameplay activities or ability to save to the console."
UPDATE TWO: Crackdown was also given a trailer, revealing that the Xbox Cloud will play a big role in the gameplay functions.
Crackdown on Xbox One will have "a 100 percent destructible environments" and will be set in a crime-riddled city.
"Stop a ruthless criminal empire as a super-powered Agent of justice in Crackdown 3’s hyper-powered sandbox of mayhem and destruction, from original creator Dave Jones."
Crackdown was followed by a long introduction to Scalebound, a new adventure from critically-acclaimed developer PlatinumGames and renowned Game Director Hideki Kamiya.
Scalebound is set for release, holiday 2016 and will include four-player co-op.

UPDATE ONE: Microsoft kicked off their Gamescom briefing in Cologne, Germany, today, opening with a montage of new games coming to Xbox One and Windows 10.
Gregor Bieler, General Manager from Xbox Germany hit the stage first, introducing the media and fans to the event before handing over to Xbox chief, Phil Spencer.
The 2016 lineup was expanded upon by Spencer, revealing more on Quantum Break, Remedy Entertainment's Xbox exclusive.
It seems Break will include a time-bending story to suit the gameplay shown today, with the hero able to open bubbles of slowed-down time to make his way through his enemies.
It will also include battles in which time will have stopped completely and will include you those with abilities similar to your own.
Quantum Break will include both a game and a live-action TV show that will run with it.
April 5, 2016 was the release date given to Quantum Break's show, giving fans more of a clue of when the game could launch.

The Xbox gamescom 2015 briefing starts on at 3:00 p.m. BST, followed by Xbox Daily: LIVE @ gamescom shows on Wednesday and Friday, as well as an exclusive first look at high-stakes Arena gameplay from Halo 5: Guardians on Friday.

Gamescom is the largest consumer gaming show in the world and will include new details being released on Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront, FIFA 16, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and more.
Xbox chief, Phil Spencer, has hinted that fans can expect a release date given for the time-bending Quantum Break, being developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Studios.
Other EA titles set for the star treatment at Gamescom includes the long awaited sequel, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.
The games publisher host its own press conference on Wednesday, where the trailer will be shown in full ahead of the game's planned February 23, 2016 release date.
Star Wars: Battlefront will also be featured heavily by EA, with new Squadron Fighter gameplay, featuring X-Wing combat, set to be shown.
