West Ham chief responds to £12m battle with Tottenham for Man Utd star
Javier Hernandez is reportedly a target for West Ham and Spurs
WEST HAM co-chairman David Gold has responded to speculation linking his side with a move for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.

Gold has revealed the club are looking to recruit at least one striker this summer, with Enner Valencia missing for 12 weeks with a leg injury and Andy Carroll ruled out until at least next month following knee surgery.
Recent reports suggest the Hammers are hoping to bolster their numbers up front with United outcast Hernandez, and Gold has refused to play down the link.
The Red Devils are reportedly open to offers in the region of £12million for the Mexico international, who is also a target for Tottenham.

We are looking for a striker

In response to the Hernandez rumours, Gold said: "We are looking for a striker, that is our key. We have been very unfortunate in losing Valencia before the season kicked off.
“We already believed we needed a striker because of Andy Carroll not rejoining the squad until September.
“Now we really must find another centre forward before the transfer window closes. Yes we would like two, but we have to be realistic."
