Sadio Mane was taken off injured |
SADIO MANE limped off injured as Southampton were held to a goaless draw at Watford.
In a tight encounter, which one goal was always going to be enough to settle, neither side could make the breakthrough and it was Mane who was the main focus.
The Senegal attacker has been the subject of an approach from Manchester United and the extent of his injury is not yet known.
Whether it will deter United from another bid is yet to be seen but action is expected at St Mary's between now and the end of the transfer window.
Action is not the word to describe proceedings at Vicarage Road, though, as the first half went by with very little incident.
In fact, just two shots - both from Southampton - were had and the clash failed to spark into life until Ikechi Anya did in the second half.
However, two dangerous balls were wasted by the Hornets attack and the visitors were equally wasteful.
Graziano Pelle failed to test Heurelho Gomes and Mane's replacement Shane Long fired high and wide.
Not one that will live long in the memory as Southampton stay third from bottom and Watford move up to 11th.
