Jonny Evans could be heading for the Manchester United exit door |
WEST BROM are preparing an £8million package for Manchester United defender Jonny Evans, according to reports.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis is hoping to convince Evans to walk away from Old Trafford after opting out of a deal for Tottenham's Federico Fazio.
Fazio was set to have a medical at the Hawthorns but The Sunday People claim his wage demands have put paid to the deal.
And Pulis has turned his attention to the United centre-back as a result, with the hope of pushing a deal over the line for a cut-price fee.
United are reported to have been asking for £12m earlier in the summer but Albion think a deal of £5m plus add-ons is more realistic.
The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour with Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal and didn't even make the bench for the bore-draw with Newcastle on Saturday.
Evans could be a direct replacement for Joleon Lescott, who is thought to be keen on a move to boyhood club Aston Villa.
Lescott, 33, has just one year left on his contract and could be tempted by a switch to Albion's rivals.
