The cubs of Cecil the lion are seen in this clip from Zimbabwe |
THIS adorable video shows the cubs of Cecil the lion are alive and well as they roam around with the females of his pride.
The stunning footage, taken in Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, will delight the animal lovers around the world who were left outraged by the slaughter of Cecil.
It shows seven cubs and three lionesses strolling around the park, with the young demonstrating the same relaxed attitude as their father.
The video, released by African Bush Camps, should provide relief to Cecil fans following fears that the cubs could be killed by a rival leader in the absence of Cecil.
There were also rumours that his brother Jericho had been killed by poachers, but this was later quashed by the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority.
Cecil was killed by US dentist Walter Palmer, who is alleged to have paid £35,000 to kill the majestic beast.
The lion was allegedly lured out of Hwange National Park before he was wounded with a bow and arrow then tracked down for 40 hours, shot and skinned.
His death sparked outrage around the world, with Palmer being sent death threats and millions calling on Zimbabwe authorities to stop issuing permits for trophy hunting.
Palmer has since gone into hiding as thousands call for him to be extradited in order to face justice for the killing.
Zimbabwe's Environment Minister Oppah Muchinguri said of the petition: "We are appealing for his extradition to Zimbabwe so that he can be held accountable for his illegal action.
"It was too late to apprehend the foreign poacher because he had already absconded to his country of origin."
Palmer has not been charged by authorities in the US or Zimbabwe.
